This time, it’s Donald Trump causing traffic nightmares as he heads East to attend a fundraiser. Co-hosted by Cantor Fitzgerald bigwig Howard Lutnick and Farvahar Partners CEO Omeed Malik, the event will also see billionaire hedge funder John Paulson in attendance. Paulson, a Trump mega donor, previously hosted an event for the former president in Palm Beach, Florida raising a staggering $50 million.
Tickets for the Bridgehampton event range from $25,000 per person to $500,000 for a couple to host. For those willing to spend even more, a photo opportunity with Trump comes at a hefty price of $50,000 to $75,000. Trump will be arriving at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach and driving to Bridgehampton, causing road closures and disturbances in several areas. According to the East Hampton Star, locations affected will include Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays, Southampton, Shinnecock Hills, North Sea, Water Mill, and Bridgehampton.
This is not the first time that the Hamptons have been plagued by political visits. In June, President Biden attended a fundraiser at the home of billionaire Barry Rosenstein, leading to complaints about traffic back-ups. According to a source at the time, Biden’s motorcade added over 45 minutes to the commute from Southampton to East Hampton. Locals were relieved when Biden left as the traffic nightmare subsided. The vibe in the Hamptons during these high-profile visits can best be described as chaotic and frustrating.
