Oscar De La Hoya and Holly Sonders Turn Dance Video into Cancer Awareness Campaign

Oscar De La Hoya and Holly Sonders have taken a unique approach to raising awareness for cancer. What started as a raunchy dance video in Mexico has now turned into a Public Service Announcement (PSA) urging people to get their prostates and breasts checked.

De La Hoya and Sonders refer to their initiative as the “Tanga and Ta-tas awareness program.” In a response clip obtained by TMZ Sports, the duo explained that the purpose of their viral dance video was to bring attention to the importance of prostate and breast cancer screenings.

Sonders, dressed in a bikini, emphasized the significance of getting checked for prostate cancer and mammograms. De La Hoya, sporting a tiny banana hammock, echoed the sentiment by urging everyone to take action against cancer. The couple even revealed that they invested $50,000 of their own money to provide screenings at Adventist White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles.

The timing of their dance video was intentional, as September is recognized as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. De La Hoya and Sonders hope that their lighthearted approach will spark conversations about these serious diseases and encourage more people to prioritize their health.

De La Hoya has a personal connection to breast cancer awareness, as his mother passed away from the disease in the 1990s. In honor of his mother, he has been a longtime advocate for breast cancer awareness and has made significant contributions to cancer centers. The Adventist White Cancer Center even bears his mother’s name.

While their original dance video caught the internet’s attention and even garnered a substantial offer for an encore performance, De La Hoya and Sonders had a more significant goal in mind. They want to destigmatize discussions around prostate and breast cancer, encourage early and annual screenings, and ultimately help save lives.

Oscar De La Hoya and Holly Sonders have successfully transformed a playful dance video into a powerful cancer awareness campaign. By leveraging their platform and personal experiences, they are making a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. It serves as a reminder that sometimes, humor and positivity can be powerful tools in addressing serious health issues.
