The dedicated fans of Taylor Swift are proving to be a significant force in Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. While Swift herself has not yet officially endorsed a presidential candidate, many of her fans, known as Swifties, have rallied behind Harris. Recently, a virtual rally was held where over $120,000 was raised, showcasing the immense fundraising power of Swift’s fanbase. In total, more than $140,000 has been raised for Harris and Governor Tim Walz’s White House bid by Swifties for Kamala.
During the online rally, more than 34,000 fans attended to show their support. Special guests included Senator Elizabeth Warren, who addressed the group and shared her favorite Taylor Swift songs. Additionally, legendary singer-songwriter Carole King made an appearance and even rapped the chorus of Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.” King and Swift have a longstanding connection, with Swift previously performing at King’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
While Swift did not make an appearance on the call, she has been spending time at her Rhode Island residence. During this time, she has entertained A-list friends like Channing Tatum, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and boyfriend Travis Kelce. It is notable that Swift previously supported President Joe Biden in 2020. However, her lack of endorsement in the current election cycle has sparked speculation and conversation. This has even caught the attention of Donald Trump, who has attempted to garner support among Swifties through fake AI ads.
Furthermore, the Swifties for Kamala group has criticized Ticketmaster for their handling of ticket sales for Swift’s “Eras” tour in 2022. This highlights the fervent dedication of Swift’s fanbase and their willingness to speak out against perceived injustices.
Taylor Swift’s fans have proven to be a formidable force in the realm of politics, showcasing their support through fundraising efforts and online rallies. Despite Swift’s own lack of formal endorsement, the Swifties’ passion for their favorite artist has translated into tangible support for political candidates like Kamala Harris.
